Position: Field Services Engineer (ISP)
Location: Frankfurt
Job Purpose
Working as a member of the Field Service team to implement and support all field operations network activity and to effectively supervise and carry out equipment installation as per the direction of Engineering, Service Activation and Network Operations Centre.
Principal Responsibilities
- Remote hands
- Patch installation
- Local terminal configuration and fault finding
- Equipment installation chassis and cards
- Local terminal testing (OTDR, latency)
- Scheduled equipment maintenance
- Field reporting
- Service Activation support
- NOC support
- Engineering and Deployment support
- Customer liaison and fault management
Desirable Competencies/Skills Required
- A number of yers telecommunications field experience with ONC or diploma qualification in relevant area
- Understanding of various WAN infrastructures in a Telecoms/ISP environment:
- Ethernet-based including VLAN / MPLS technologies
- CWDM/DWDM networks
- Understanding of Juniper/Cisco based IP-architectures
- Interpretation of local alarms on equipment and/or tester
- Understanding of routing protocols and configurations (ISIS, OSPF, BGP)
- Understanding of fibre based and transport protocols:
- CWDM/DWDM architectures
- Operational support and use of Huawei, Ciena, Infinera or similar vendor equipment.
- Understanding of Data Centre procedures and protocols
- Proficient in the use of field test equipment and the interpretation of alarms
- Excellent Customer relationship management skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English
